Hi, I’m Dr. Sharolyn!
Let me start with a confession—I never wanted to be a doctor! It was my parents' dream (cliché, I know), and like many obedient children, I followed the expected path: medical school, endless exams, long hours. I checked all the right boxes, yet something always felt… off.
Despite being a GP for years, I never felt at home in the traditional model of medicine—patients coming in, expecting a magic pill, and me prescribing medications that only masked the problem.
At one point, I was ready to walk away from medicine entirely. But just when I was about to give up, I discovered Lifestyle Medicine—an approach that finally made sense to me. Instead of just treating symptoms, it focuses on addressing the root cause of disease through real, lasting health changes. Suddenly, medicine wasn’t just a profession—it became my calling.
Now, I help people take charge of their health beyond prescriptions, guiding them toward sustainable, evidence-based lifestyle changes that empower them to truly thrive.
Up to 80% of chronic diseases seen in primary care—such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and obesity—are directly linked to lifestyle factors like diet, physical activity, sleep, stress, and smoking. (Schroeder, 2007; WHO, 2018)
Despite this, over 90% of healthcare spending goes toward treating diseases rather than preventing them. Yet, studies show that lifestyle interventions can prevent up to 80% of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes and at least 40% of cancers
